Scinic's First Treatment Essence is among the many
fermented products seen in the K-beauty world. Among the fermented
essences include SKI-II's Facial Treatment Essence and Missha’s Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. However, Scinic provides a more affordable and comparable essence (appropriately $21) that brings healthy, glowy results to the skin.
This essence is one
that shows its effects overtime. By overtime, I mean over time. With a
concise list of excellent ingredients such as 90% galactomyces ferment
filtrate, niacinamide, and glycyrrhiza glabra root (licorice) water, Scinic's First
Treatment Essence provides antioxidants and moisture for healthier, clearer
skin.
- Galactomyces ferment filtrate: a type of fungus that helps with moisturizing and brightening dull skin, as well as controlling sebum, reducing the appearance of large pores, and tightening the elasticity of the skin. It's an effective ingredient in Korean skincare, and this product has 90% of it.
- Niacinamide: also a star ingredient in K-beauty, it helps reduce the appearance of large pores, brighten dull skin, and prevents premature aging.
- Adenosine: this ingredient is one I look for when it comes to "anti-aging" products. It's known to combat premature wrinkles and is effective in smoothing and restoring the skin.
- Glycyrrhiza glabra root water: related to licorice extract, this ingredients smooths the skin and clears uneven skin tones.
- Portulaca oleracea extract: an antioxidant that also helps to smooth the skin
It took about 3 months of daily usage to find my skin looking and feeling healthier than in months past. It reminds me of what Liah Yoo, Youtuber and founder of Krave Beauty, mentioned in a recent video about our expectations for instant results from the skincare products that we use: many of us seem to look for instant gratification when it comes to our skincare. In other words, we want our skincare to show results instantly, rather than over a period of time.
Now, I've had Scinic's First Treatment Essence for over a year. Initially, I would incorporate it to my daily skincare here and there: some days I'll apply it, but most of the time it was just sitting there on my shelf. The reason I did not use it continuously, for stretches of time, was that I did not see instant results when using it. It goes back to the tendency for instant gratification when it comes to skincare products. However, I decided to test this product out properly, applying it everyday for about three months, to see if it worked well on my skin. And it did.
After cleansing my skin, I apply this product at least once a day, morning or night or sometimes both. In warmer days, I just use this essence as my moisturizer, but double the amount of layers I put on my skin. The viscosity of the product is almost like water, but has a bit more weight to it. Nevertheless, it feels light and sinks into the skin in a few minutes. When the weather's cooler, I apply it before my moisturizer. After a period of time, I found my skin clearer and glowing from within. I also found that my enlarged pores was not as noticeable as before. This essence improved the condition of my skin.
Pros:
All in all, my skin is in the best shape ever, and I can point to this essence as a primary reason for it. Thus, Scinic First Treatment Essence is a great addition to your skincare, not as another step in the 10-step skincare routine, but as a nourishing product that provides goodness to the skin.
Pros:
- Short ingredients list
- Comprised of excellent ingredients
- Comfortable to layer
- Lightweight
- Great and surprising results on the skin after daily usage for a "lengthy" amount of time (~3 months)
Cons:
- Having to wait for the essence's magical ingredients to work on the skin (but patience is actually a good thing!)
