Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser Review

Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser-- a product that's arguably the most talked about from Cosrx. And for a good reason too. Read on as we discover the reasons to why I'm still using this product for the past 10 months~!

Claims: "Formulated with botanical skin-purifying ingredients, mildly acidic cleanser works softly to make skin supple and clear." [excerpt from Cosrx]

Price: ~$11 (However, I bought this on sale at Jolse for ~$8)

Notable Ingredients:

  • Saccharomyces ferment: fermented-type skincare (mostly in the form of essences) are no secret in the world of K-beauty, but a ferment in a cleanser? Saccharomyces ferment is a common ingredient found in deodorant (yes, deodorant) as a way to eliminate odor-producing bacteria. In addition to decomposing these bacteria, it is known to breakdown sweat as well-- which makes sense to why this ferment is in a cleanser, as particular cleansers are meant to breakdown the sweat and pollutants garnered throughout the day.
  • Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract: it's considered to have similar, moisturizing properties as hyaluronic acid and is great in reducing inflammation
  • Betaine Salicylate: a chemical exfoliant in the form of a BHA that goes into the pore and removes impurities; it's nice that there is an addition of BHA to the cleanser, but its benefits may not be totally reaped since these ingredients will ultimately be washed-off
Although cleansers are wash-off products, meaning that all of these ingredients will not be absorbed into the skin and will be washed away, it's still important to analyze the ingredients list. For example, I was surprised to find Saccharomyces Ferment in this cleanser, but understood its place in this cleanser as it breaks down sweat. Also, cleansers can be often times drying, but with moisturizing ingredients such as Butylene GlycolCryptomeria Japonica Leaf Extract, and Caprylyl Glycol, they help keep the skin from drying.

My thoughts:

For the past 10 months, this has been the only face cleanser I've been using. Why you may ask? Well, it effectively takes off my sunscreen and the day's worth of sweat, dirt, and pollutants from my face. I don't wear face makeup, so I have not tested it out myself, but as stated from renown skincare blogger Fifty Shades of Snail, it also removes face makeup-- which is amazing if you ask me! With this in mind, the Good Morning Gel Cleanser essentially works as both your oil-based cleanser and your water-based cleanser in the double cleansing method. As your oil-based cleanser, this product takes off  makeup, sunscreen, etc. As your water-based cleanser, it removes all that sweat, impurities, and pollutants from your face. It's a two-in-one kind of product.

Yes, Good Morning, is in its name, but don't be fooled! You can use this any time of the day. I personally use this cleanser twice a day, morning and night, using a pea-size amount. For my night time routine, I use this cleanser twice for the double cleansing method. As I wash the cleanser off my face, this cleanser is gentle, and does dry out my skin-- which is especially important to me, as someone who has acne-prone skin. As you can see from the picture below, it doesn't create the most fluffiest, marshmallow-like foam when lathering it in your hands; however, this doesn't make a difference to how effectively it cleanses the face.

Not marshmallow-like, but does the job in cleansing-- which is the most important factor~!
What I also love about this cleanser is the price-point. I usually purchase this cleanser whenever Jolse has 25% off sales on their website. During these sales, they are around $8, which is a great, affordable price, especially how long this cleanser lasts. Again, I use this cleanser twice a day, yet this Good Morning Cleanser lasts me for more than 6 months.

Pros:

  • effectively cleanses the face (removes sunscreen, dirt, sweat, impurities, etc.)
  • works both as your oil-based cleanser and water-based cleanser in the double cleansing method
  • gentle and non-irritating
  • does not dry out skin
  • affordable price
  • lasts for a long time
Cons:
  • none!
5 out of 5 stars

My first five star product review! Truly a great, affordable product that I will continue on using for a long time~
